India has a diverse transportation scenario, Auto Rickshaws offers the last mile connectivity and now app-based services (Uber/Ola cabs) have further expanded this market. The project brief offers an opportunity to design an iconic autonomous ‘last mile connectivity’ vehicle for Indian metro cities launched in the year 202X. Unique exterior styling cues loaded with utilitarian features for passengers making their rides joyful and efficient would be the driving factor for design. There are Autonomous taxis or Robotaxis that are being developed around the world. The famous ones being the Waymo by Google, Zoox by Amazon, Cruise which is being developed by General Motors. China has it’s own focus and different approaches in implementing the technology for a better Robotaxi operation. Considering the future towards Autonomous mobility, and these major players in the industry designing with the idea of western context, this project aims to develop an Autonomous Taxi for Indian Megacities.
