In this project, I designed a collection of tableware decals for the Indian hospitality industry. Tableware is a relationship between food and diners. Tableware used in high-end hotels complements the spaces and the stakeholders, such as chefs and Diners. These tablewares used in hotels were majorly ruled by plain white or ivory. Through this project, I tried to create an interest in the way tableware is perceived & used in hotel spaces for fine-dine culinary presentations. To design these, I used the basic industrial design process, i.e. Discover, Define, Design, Develop and Deliver. The decals treatment used in this project works on the principle of transferring through water, also known as Water Transfer Decals. These decals fuse to the surface of wares (Ceramic & Glass) when heated at a temperature range. I took inspiration from various sources, such as the natural formation of rocks, textile prints, and organic lines and also played around with different shapes & textures. For industry adaptation, the project was carefully evaluated based on the suggestions & reviews by in-house staff who had already worked with high-end industry and also implemented safety standards such as Dishwasher Safe, Chip Resistant & Use of Non-Toxic Materials.
