Sysnopsis

Vishrambh is a project at SCAI Center (Center for Societal Impact through Cloud and AI) at Microsoft Research, India. It aims to enhance transparency and accountability in India's social sector by using blockchain technology to monitor fund flows, project progress, and impact assessment. Vishrambh seeks to build a comprehensive platform with a three-tiered solution: an NGO Tool, a CSR Tool, and a Public Dashboard to streamline data sharing from Nonprofits to CSR entities and eventually the public.

This research-intensive graduation project seeks to understand the landscape of nonprofit workflows in India to improve and scale Vishrambh's NGO Tool. In the discovery phase, qualitative research involved 27 employees from 6 nonprofits. The data was then analyzed in the definition phase, using the Jobs-to-be-Done framework to extract actionable insights.

The project outcomes include a model of typical nonprofit structures in India, identification of critical nonprofit functions Vishrambh's NGO Tool can serve, scoping features for the next release, solution directions, and mapping interoperability between the NGO Tool and the CSR Tool.

Overall, the project aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the working dynamics of nonprofits in the Indian social sector, along with tactical recommendations and interaction paradigms for the next iteration of the NGO Tool for Vishrambh.
