Design and Simulation of Aircraft Maintenance in Mixed Reality:
Airbus is the largest aeronautics and space company, a commercial aircraft manufacturer with Space and Defence and Helicopters Divisions.
In Aircraft, The performance of tasks required to ensure the continuing airworthiness of an aircraft or aircraft part, including overhaul, inspection, replacement, defect rectification, and the embodiment of modifications, compliance with airworthiness directives and repair.
Airbus wants to make it simple and exciting for the technicians to perform these tasks by making simulations in mixed reality.
The project involved research of parts of Aircraft, Aircraft maintenance manuals, Line Maintenance, HoloLens, Games in HoloLens, Interviews with technicians using a questionnaire, and Line maintenance. The research led to finding the essential features that must be added to the Game. Interviews made me empathise with the technicians. Their journey helped me in figuring out what features they may need.
The final stage was creating gamification, 3D model, reward system, and colour coding. The Game was developed along with various rounds of user testing, feedback and changes.
