The project "Digital integrated healthcare solution to prevent and control infection outbreaks in an operation room" is a solution to enable the Operation Room personnel to prevent and control the infection outbreak in Operation Rooms, help them minimise the turnaround time in case of an infection outbreak, and bring back the environmental standards to normal.
According to a survey by HIMSS, 69% of healthcare organisations reported investing in infection prevention and control solutions in response to the pandemic. While there may be some variation in the readiness of healthcare units to invest in infection prevention and control solutions, there appears to be a growing need for these technologies to improve patient safety and reduce the spread of infectious diseases.
By looking into the growing need, the project focused on the critical job roles and their responsibilities in case of an infection outbreak and tried to provide a digitally integrated solution.
During the project, the entire journey of understanding the need for Infection control, Smart hospitals, and Building management systems in the healthcare setup was very inspiring as this was the call of the hour during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Also, understanding the crucial role each persona performs and how specific it is to their job role was very interesting to know. For primary research, we conducted online Zoom meetings. It was an open-ended discussion to understand their job roles, protocol during infection outbreaks, and how they coordinate with different teams. We mapped the pain points and opportunities to work forward without concepts within their current setup.
Overall working in the healthcare sector was very challenging and exciting for me. The entire journey has been a collection of learnings, experiments, and gaining experiences. Reflecting, I thank my guide, mentor, colleagues, and friends for their constant support and patience in hearing me out
