Walmart has always endeavored to provide the best prices to its customers. Every Day Low Price (EDLP) is a core tenet of the Walmart philosophy, and drives many business decisions of this retail giant - from procurement to logistics to store displays. A major part of this operation is to keep prices competitive in order to keep profit margins intact while providing the best customer service. In recent times, Walmart has sought to occupy more real estate in the e-commerce space, in tandem with its biggest competitors. While Walmart has the edge in the brick and mortar retail industry, competitors' global presence including the e-commerce space, and changing customer attitudes towards shopping online make it all the more important for Walmart to gain an edge through its online businesses. Considering their millions-strong catalog, Walmart leverages the power of technology to keep its prices competitive. Walmart strives to perfect and augment this technology to generate more accurate and robust data, in order to achieve better price competitiveness across its vast catalog. This project falls within that space, aiming to discover and implement ways to improve this technology through design thinking.
