The first few weeks of the internship a brief introduction was given about the design team, design philosophy and the workings of all the Nutanix products. I was assigned to redesigning the Nutanix Test Drive website which meant the project brief had already been made ready for the internship. Website redesign is a user interface and user experience design, which is not exactly in the domain of Graphic Design. I wanted to do something within the sphere of conventional graphic designer. The manager was open to suggestions regarding any additional design projects that could be part of the internships and that could satisfy my interest of adding value as a core graphic design project. After a lot of deliberation, I came up with the idea of redesigning the packaging for New hire kit which could potentially cut the amount of materials that made the current packaging design. As a new intern I felt that the experience of getting introduced to a company through the New hire kit should be more impactful and resourceful. I saw an opportunity to combine both projects and define them under a bigger umbrella as starting points for both customers of Nutanix products and new employees of Nutanix.
From here, a document was drafted in sync with the Product Manager of Test Drive, Rajesh Bikky, my Mentor, Kacy Liu, and my Manager, Sojan Anto outlining the timeline and requirements for both of the projects.
