Sysnopsis

The goal of this project is to design an Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) for ChargeFlo that not only fulfills its functional purpose but also provides a heightened experience for EV owners. The author has conducted extensive research on the charging ecosystem and worked on all design requirements from the initial stages to the final design of the EVSE. This improvisation will delve into the different processes involved in creating the EVSE, including secondary, primary research, enclosure architecture, design and development, Design for Assembly, Design for manufacturing. The author embarked on secondary research to gather relevant information about the charging ecosystem. This involved studying existing EVSE designs, analyzing user feedback, and exploring emerging trends in the field. By understanding the current state of EV charging infrastructure and user preferences, the author gained valuable insights to inform the subsequent design decisions. Building upon the knowledge acquired, the author proceeded interacting directly with EV owners, understanding charging behaviors and preferences, their needs, pain points, and expectations regarding EVSEs. With the research findings in mind, the author focused on the enclosure architecture of the EVSE. The goal was to create a structure that not only housed the necessary charging components but also enhanced the overall aesthetic and functional value. Attention was given to aspects such as form factor, ergonomics, and user interface placement to ensure a seamless and intuitive experience for EV owners. The enclosure architecture aimed to provide easy access to the charging ports while maintaining a visually appealing design. Attention was paid to the finer details both inside and outside the EVSE.
